Andorra 0 England 3 - Review

Unfortunately I was stuck on an overnight ferry to Amsterdam so missed the match. Thankfully I managed to get a signal in the middle of the North Sea and was able to get the result through via a TXT.

Overall I was seriously dissapointed that we only managed to get three past the minnows and ater an hour at that!

I don't know how the game would have turned out if Gerrard wasn't on the pitch with his two well-taken goals. Nugent did well to knock his first from 2 inches just before the final whistle.

The next game is away to Estonia and we really should be getting full points. Let's hope things change in the next 9 weeks.

Israel V England

So Steve McClaren has dropped Joey Barton and Garth Barry from the Euro 2008 squad to face Israel... It's understand when you think that Owen Hargreaves is back from his broken leg. Based on the last game we certainly need his stabilising influence.

And McClaren knows this:

"We saw the importance of Owen at the World Cup.

"In our first three games, he was the catalyst for our performances because he allowed Gerrard and Lampard more freedom to express themselves.

"We have missed that since he has been injured."

Goalkeepers:

Paul Robinson (Tottenham), Ben Foster (Watford), Scott Carson (Charlton).

Defenders:
Gary Neville (Manchester United), Micah Richards (Manchester City), Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United), John Terry (Chelsea, captain), Jonathan Woodgate (Middlesbrough), Jamie Carragher (Liverpool), Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Phil Neville (Everton).

Midfielder:
Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Owen Hargreaves (Bayern Munich), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), Aaron Lennon (Tottenham), Scott Parker (Newcastle), Michael Carrick (Manchester United), Kieron Dyer (Newcastle), Stuart Downing (Middlesbrough).

Strikers:
Andrew Johnson (Everton), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), Jermain Defoe (Tottenham), Darren Bent (Charlton).

England 0-1 Spain - Woeful

Well the game started brightly for England but boy was it a naff match.

The game didn't give much encouragement to the English fans for the team's ability to take three points from Israel in the next game in the Euro 2008 qualifying round.

Some are calling for Mclaren's "head" but I think it's way to early to judge.

Say what you really think of the team in the Euro 2008 forum.

Debut For Ben Foster

The highly rated United prospect Ben Foster will get his first England cap against Spain on Wednesday night. But the match has been blighted by the absence of Wayne Rooney and Aaron Lennon through injury and illness.

But still it'll be an interesting game when you look at the squad. You've got Woodgate rightly getting a chance to show himself in defence and Wright-Phillips will be able to prove his pace and cunning on the wing.

It looks like Mclaren will play a pseudo 4-3-3 formation with Wright-Phillips and Dyer in advanced positions with Gerrard, Carrick and Lampard holding midfield.

Crouch will play a solitary role up front but with the supply that the wingers can give and his ability to hold up the ball for strikes from Gerrard and Lampard we can expect to provide a good challenge for Casillas.

So my prediction: 2-1

Full England Squad:

Foster (Watford)
Gary Neville (Man Utd)
Phil Neville (Everton)
Rio Ferdinand (Man Utd)
Woodgate (Middlesbrough)
Gerrard (Liverpool, capt)
Carrick (Man Utd)
Wright-Phillips (Chelsea)
Lampard (Chelsea)
Dyer (Newcastle)
Crouch (Liverpool)

England V Spain Feb 7th

For those of you who haven't got tickets for the England V. Spain game on 7th at Old Trafford then there's still some avaliable at the England Match Tickets site.

It's on a Wednesday night at 8pm so I don't expect many will travel from the far reaches of the nation, but it would be good to pack OT. Seeing as it's not on Sky it'll be on the BBC.

Hopefully we'll win this one! But seeing as we're up against a pretty damn good team, it'll be a tough job.

So go get your tickets.

Andorra v England 28th March

England travel to the minnows of international football on a Wednesday at the end of March.

They'll obviously expect a win at the Stadium Comunal de Aixovall but if we don't beat Israel in the previous match, this could end up being one of those horrible "must win games".

Israel V England 24th March 2007

England face Israel at the end of March in a must win game. We may only be 7 points off the top of Group E, but with Israel, Russia and Crotia in the leading positions, England can not afford to let the gap increase.

Location:
Ramat Gan Stadium was completed in 1951 and serving as Israel's largest stadium ever since, this all-seated stadium contains 41,583 seats, 13,370 of which are located in the Western Tribune, completed in 1982 - at the time the stadium went through a major refurbishing process.
