Wales 0 - Czech Republic 0

Well these weekend games sure crept up on me. It may have been Giggs' former team-mate David Beckham that took most of the press attention from the games, but Ryan will get his fair share of plaudits too after a fine performance against Czech Republic.

He may not have been able to seal his international retirement with a goal or a victory, but he'll be able to take away the fond memory of the Welsh faithful chanting his name.

Despite the game finishing only 0-0, the result is more significant than a goalless draw may initially appear. It heaped the pressure on the away side who could have gone level on points with Germany at the top of the Group D qualifying table. The result helped the Republic of Ireland as now the Czech's are only one point ahead with the same number of games played.

The next round of Euro 2008 qualifying matches will be crucial for the Irish as it see's them face fourth side Slovakia whilst Czech Republic face lowly San Marino away.

It's getting down to the wire, but Germany look likely qualifiers with one from Czech Republic and possibly Slovakia if they manage to overcome Germany on Wednesday.
