Get Set for Euro 2016
I'm not kidding! Just as Euro 2012 has been sorted, with it going to Poland & Ukraine. Now we're getting set for Euro 2016.
The probable bids so far come from Scotland & Wales as joint bids, France, Sweden & Norway and Bulgaria.
Scotland & Wales
Scotland failed for the 2008 tournament because the stadia didn't come up to scratch. Adding Wales to the campaign would allow them to include the fabulous Millennium Stadium and the Leckwith Stadium also in Cardiff.
The only issue is that Euro 2016 will likely host 24 teams which would need at least 12 stadia. At the moment 6 are upto standard, but another 6 would need improvements. How likely this is to happen is anyone's guess.
France
The French Football Association is pretty confident for getting the EURO 2016 tournament as the 2012 is going to Poland and Ukraine.
France has loads of top-quality stadia so that won't be an issue. They're putting on the Rugby World Cup this year so we'll be able to get a closer look at their organisational skills.
Sweden & Norway
According to an article in the Swedish newspaper Göteborgs-Posten Sweden and Norway are thinking about co-hosting the tournament.
Again there's issues about the quality of the stadia and some work will need to be done. There's a new football stadium being built in Solna which is being designed to the UEFA 5-Star rating so that'll be one less stadia to renovate.
Bulgaria & Norway
There's uncorroborated reports that a Romanian senator has suggested they co-host with Bulgaria.
They'll definitely need to build some new stadia or improve the others.
You could say they've only at best got an outside chance of winning it as Poland and Ukraine have the 2012 tournament.
My bet:
I think it'll go to Sweden and Norway, but there's four years until we find out.
