Austria to Tax Player Bonuses Locally

The state of Austria may be charging fans realistic prices for attending the Euro 2008 matches but the players will have their bonuses taxed under rules set to come into law there.

In the Euro 2004 tournament in Portugal players were allowed to pay taxes on their bonuses in their home countries. But despite pressure from UEFA the two host countries have refused!

The Euro 2008 from the Swiss government said it would be illegal to operate a tax exemption. But aren't they the government, can't they change the law??

I'm sure when the media get hold of this they'll kick up a fuss!
