Northern Ireland 0 - 3 Iceland

This game should have been so different. From the uphoria of beating Finland 2-1 last month they suffer the ignomy of being resoundly loosing 0:3 in their first Euro 2008 qualifying game at home to the relative minnows that are Iceland (ok, maybe not minnows - maybe a cod?)

The visitors scored on 13 minutes from a Gunnar Heidar strike then Hreidarsson made it two on twenty minutes. The on-form Eidur Gudjohnsen scored on the 36th minute with his usual flair to take the game to its concluding score of 3:0.

The game could have been so different if David Healy's goal on the hour stood. Unfortuneately it was dissallowed for pushing by Stuart Elliott.

If you were frustrated or consiliatory in defeat then leave your comments in the Euro 2008 forum.
