Aragones Resignation Turned Down

Following on from Spain's defeat in their last Euro 2008 qualifier against Northern Ireland, the Spain coach Luis Aragones tendered his resignation.

However, the Spanish Soccer Federation has turned it down. However, there will be a final decision as to Aragones's fait within the next two days.

A federation spokesman stated that "Luis has our total confidence and our support but he has the last word."

However, he doesn't seem to have the support of the Spanish public. After the recent defeat the Spanish newspaper Marca polled 100,000 fans on its website, with nearly 80% calling for Aragones to resign.

It doesn't look good, although he's had his troubles in the past after being fined £2k for racist remarks relating to Henry.
