Wayne broke into the Southampton first team in the 1998/99 season and quickly became a regular. He was named player of the year for the 2000/01 season and after five years at the club and 173 appearences was sold to Chelsea in 2003 for £7m puls Greame Le Saux.

His finest moment can be seen below when he scored an 88th minute goal against Arsenal to send them into the Champions League semi-final in the 2003/04 season.
