Evolution not Revolution
With the news that David Beckham has been left out of the England squad to face Greece next week in the pre-Euro 2008 friendly comes the full impact of the fact that it looks unlikely that David will play for England again.
Steve Mclaren stated that he won't close the door on any player, however, a slight slip of the tongue may give a true indication to his thoughts.
The new head coach repeated many times that he's taking the team in a new direction and that he's building for Euro 2008 and can be seen by the inclusion of Dean Ashton, Jermain Defoe, Wes Brown, Kieran Richardson, Darren Bent and Shaun Wright-Phillips.
He also stressed that he wasn't trying to send out a message to the media, and that he's just selecting a squad to fulfill his task of "winning matches".
The game on Wednesday should prove an interesting one seeing as we're playing the current European Champions. We'll miss seeing Beckham's free-kicks, but its time now to see what England's Youths have to offer.
